How can I import my Apple Mac Address Book into Workbooks? I can export the Address Book from my Mac as a file called "Address Book 2011-03-15.abbu", and the data appears to be contained in a file called "AddressBook-v22.abcddb". I can also export as a vcf file type. |

The Workbooks import needs data to be in a CSV file. Therefore you need to get the Address Book data into a CSV file. Unfortunately you can't simply export the Address Book as a CSV, but this is relatively straightforward. You do have to splash out 59 pence, but it is definitely worth it. Download a Mac App called AB2CSV, by Antonio Lore', from the Mac App Store. It can also be accessed via this website. This app allows you to quickly export the Address Book to CSV, which can then be imported into Workbooks.
NOTE: You can import this file directly into Workbooks, but you may opt to cleanse the data first in Microsoft Excel. For example, Address Book has lots of fields, which may not be relevant in Workbooks. E.g. "iPhone number" and "Mobile number" are separate fields in Address Book, but there's only one field (by default) on a Person record in Workbooks - Mobile. |
