The best way to do this would be making use of our Import Tool. You could expose the Field containing the data in question on either the Record Type's Landing Page or from a Report, and then Import the data back in, mapping the Field you exported from the Report/Landing Page to the target Field to contain the data. 

If the data types differ you may have to manipulate the data in software such as Excel to make it compatible with the data type of your target Field.
